100% committed to more sustainable cotton

All cotton in IKEA products comes from more sustainable sources. This means that our cotton is either recycled, or grown with less water and pesticides than conventional cotton. In addition, our cotton helps increase profits for the cotton farmer.

Leading constant change for cotton

By having teams on the ground in areas where it has previously been difficult to work responsibly, we can challenge the traditional ways of working and improve cotton production. We keep working actively to improve the cotton industry, and want more sustainable cotton to be the norm for the entire sector.

We use cotton in many products. But no matter where you find it, you can rest assured that all our cotton is grown and produced responsibly. We work to make responsibly sourced cotton mainstream

Conventional cotton farming uses large amounts of chemicals and water. This puts farmers’ health at risk and damages the environment. Together with WWF and other partners, we are committed to creating positive change throughout the cotton industry making more sustainable cotton a mainstream material.

Water management is key for a better cotton production

Our work focuses on water, providing farmers with training in better water management practices. We apply the Water Stewardship principles which help to build resilient communities and are also expanding the scope of our cotton initiatives to include biodiversity and health management.
