The classic look and feel of a wood kitchen
Wood kitchens are becoming popular again, but they aren't the dated wood kitchens you may remember. While they still bring the warmth of wood into your home, these kitchens are sleeker and come in a variety of styles from country to modern.
Two-toned kitchens
Start with a woodgrain kitchen and incorporating another colour into your design. White, cream or black are good options. Or try pairing with a sage green for a nature inspired space.
Here are some ways you can do this:
- Use another colour for accents, such as trims or accessories.
- Use a wood finish for all of the cabinets against a wall and use another shade on your kitchen island. You can even choose a bright colour to make a statement.
- Use a darker colour for your base cabinets and keep your upper cabinets a lighter wood tone such as oak or bamboo to keep your kitchen feeling bright.
Finishing touches
Choosing worktops
There are many worktop options for a wood kitchen, but we reccomend a contrasting colour either lighter than the cabinets or much darker. Stone or laminate worktops are durable and break up all of the wood finishes in the room so they aren't overwhelming to the eye.
Choosing appliances
Black, white or stainless steel appliances can work with a wood kitchen. Try to match or compliment the colour and finish of the worktops.
Choosing hardware
Knobs and handles in silver, brushed nickel, matching wood tones or even leather work nicely with the various woodgrain finishes. Or choose black handles for contrast.
